Keeping creativity alive in higher education.
At the Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation (IACT) at ArtStreet, we seek to empower a forward-thinking 21st century student with the ability to confidently develop the imaginative and creative skills necessary to excel and impact today’s innovative and global workforce regardless of degree focus. The Institute was developed over two years of cross-campus collaboration that led to the creation of the IACT Collective of Educators – a body of faculty, staff, alumni and regional creatives whose expertise and vocations are brought together to develop the annual foundational curriculum and creative design for the ACT I and II courses and the White Box Gallery installation season.
The IACT curriculum introduces students to the creative competencies that today’s job market demands, while applying those same skills to the students’ diverse disciplines of study. Through the introduction of creative theory, critical perspective and innovative immersions within collaborative problem-solving, the students' perceptions of what is and what can be in their field of study and the world they live in will broaden in creative, critical and innovative ways.
IACT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Through the introduction of creative theory and radical arts immersions, students' ideas of what is and what can be in their field of study and the world they live in will broaden in artistic, analytical and innovative ways.
When one’s degree of study fuses with growing critical perspective, students develop the creative confidence to see the broad and diverse set of solutions in front of them and make leaps, trust their intuition, and chase solutions that they haven’t totally figured out yet.
The fearless practice of seeing the world in complex ways and experimenting with improbable materials in seeking imaginative, unexpected and innovative solutions for multiple professional outcomes.
