The Life of Mary in Image and Word

    June 13 – July 23, 2016

Marian art can be little meaningful when it limits itself to generic representations of mother and child. Not to be misunderstood, the representation of Mother and Child, Mary and Jesus, is an interesting summary of what Christianity wants to tell us. God makes himself little (Christchild) to lead us to our real grandeur which we see and appreciate in Mary.

The art about Mary has many facets. It includes all her life and the many ways in which Mary has been perceived by those who love her or are intrigued by this mysterious woman. This exhibit shows many facets of this artistic variety. At the same time, it also documents the richness of our art collection. All of the artwork shown in this exhibit belongs to our institute.
