Mother Cabrini Shrine, Alleged Apparitions

Mother Cabrini Shrine, Alleged Apparitions

Q: What should we believe about the alleged apparition at the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Denver?

A: Given the negative judgment pronounced by Msgr. Stafford, we think that there is only one course of action left: that of loyal members of the church whose beliefs are not grounded in private revelation but in the deposit of faith received by the church. It may be added that consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a noble and legitimate expression of Marian devotion. It is not linked to this particular alleged apparition (Denver and T.A.Lopez). If two hundred people truly consecrate themselves to the Heart of Mary, there will be joy in heaven, but make sure they make this consecration to God through Mary and not because of messages received in an alleged apparition. The litmus test of this consecration will be to live up to its commitment in spite of a changed motivation, less sensational but deeper and based on more demanding faith, more similar to Mary's own faith as is expressed in the image of her pierced heart.
