Summer Educational Exchange @ Dayton - High School Students

Program Details

Dates: Monday, July 9 - Friday, July 27 (Arrive on Sunday, July 8, and depart on Saturday, July 28)

Location: The University of Dayton, 300 College Park, Dayton, Ohio, 45469-1701, USA

Price: $2600

Eligibility: Program open to UD partner schools that have a Summer Educational Exchange @ Dayton Coordinator (if you do not have a SEED Coordinator but are interested in participating in the program in the future, then please email seed@udayton.edu). Students must be 14 years of age or older by July 1, 2018 in order to enroll.

Housing: Students will stay at a residential hall located on the University of Dayton's campus. There will be two students per room. Each room includes two beds, two desks, two chairs, closets, and a small refrigerator. There are laundry facilities, lounges and open space for social gatherings in each residential hall.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets are offered daily to all Summer Educational Exchange @ Dayton participants.

What to expect

High school students participating in the Summer Educational Exchange @ Dayton program will engage in activities to promote their oral and written English communication skills and complete a cooperative learning project. Details for each of these are as follows:

American English and Communication Course

  • 20 hours per week
  • Focus on all skill areas: reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation
  • Engaging and interesting practice of all skill areas
  • Interactive activities and games

Cooperative Learning Project

  • 8 hours per week
  • Research on different topics of interest
  • Presentation skills
  • Hands-on activities designed to foster creativity

In addition to academic learning at the Summer Educational Exchange @ Dayton program, students have the opportunity to learn about American culture by taking several field trips and participating in on-campus activities.

  • University of Dayton campus tour
  • Welcome Party
  • Pizza Party
  • Sports and games: bowling, swimming, basketball, soccer and volleyball

Application Instructions

All students must complete Parts 1 and 2 of the application process before the deadline in order to enroll in SEED.

PART 2: COMPLETE THESE STEPS
  1. Download the release waiver packet and print it out.
  2. Fill out your information with a pen or pencil
  3. Scan the completed release waiver packet back onto your computer
  4. Email the it to seed@udayton.edu

Information for Chaperones

Please consult with your school’s Summer Educational Exchange @ Dayton Coordinator if you are planning to be a chaperone. Some chaperones are eligible to enroll in the SEED English teacher program and receive waived tuition.
