Klick Award

    The Brother Walter Klick, S.M., Library Award was established by Dr. Nicoletta M. Hary, University Libraries, with funds from the Lackner Award, which was presented to her in 1990 by the UD Marianists. It is administered by a standing committee of the University Libraries.

    The award is in the form of a $250 scholarship. 

    Who is eligible:  Majors or minors in Teacher Education, both full and part-time, who will be returning for Fall 2014 as juniors or seniors are eligible to win this award.

    Award criteria: Criteria used for award selection include financial need, a good academic record, a strong faculty recommendation, and personal characteristics which reflect the Marianist tradition.

    Applicants must write a brief essay of no more than 750 words. Past winners addressed each criterion clearly in their essay.

    Applicants should be aware that receiving this award could affect other financial aid.

    Brother Walter Klick,S.M.

    Brother Walter Klick,S.M., a native of Cleveland, entered the Marianist Novitiate after graduating from Cathedral Latin High in 1930. He took his first vows on October 12, 1931. During his long teaching career he taught grade school and high school students in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Dayton, Puerto Rico, and Cincinnati. In 1954 he earned his M.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He directed UD's Wohlleben Library until its closing in 1970.
