At the Manger: World Nativity Traditions

People around the world ponder and picture the birth of Christ through many different cultural lenses.

With a collection of over 3,500 Nativity scenes from more than 100 countries, the University of Dayton and the Marian Library/International Marian Research Institute have, in an annual exhibition drawing thousands of visitors each year, provided the opportunity to see both the universality and the individuality with which people around the world see and celebrate the birth of Christ.

For the past several years, the program, called At the Manger, has included 3 exhibits which run from the Saturday following Thanksgiving through mid-January in Roesch Library. Beginning with the 2017 exhibit, At the Manager will be limited as the library undergoes renovations. Exhibits will be shown only on the seventh floor featuring Nativities of Africa and of Eastern Europe.

Dates, times, locations and other information on At the Manger during the renovation will be provided here and in other media as they are available. Please check back often for the latest information.
