Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month

Sowing Hope

October 28- November 30, 2015

In the past eight years, the poverty rate in Montgomery County has jumped from 15% to almost 20%. Your help is needed now more than ever to help support our fellow Daytonians! The Center for Social Concern collected hundreds of baskets last year; thank you for your generosity!

The Month's Events

Donate a Meal

Look for tables in KU, Marycrest or VWK during the Week of Nov. 1- Nov. 8 to donate one or two of your meals or some money off of your Flyer Express card. The proceeds will go towards providing Thanksgiving meals to local Dayton families!

Students can donate a maximum of $10 (two meals) through their meal plan. We have until November 9 to make sure all the sheets are turned in. If you turn in your sheets after November 9th, the donations will NOT be accepted.

Thanksgiving Meals

There are two options to support this project again for tradition Thanksgiving meals:

  1. Provide a basket of non-perishable food including $15 for a turkey, 2 boxes of stuffing, 2 cans of cranberry sauce, 2 cans of a type of vegetable, 2 boxes of mashed potatoes, and 1 boxed dessert that can be made by adding water.
  2. Donate the cost of a meal: $50.

Sign up here!

Donations are due the week of November 9, 2015.

Checks can be made payable to Campus Ministry and sent to Liberty Hall 107 (+0408).

Meal donations may be dropped off in the S1 (Fitz Hall), S2, and the 1700 Patterson (River Campus) parking lots on November 9 from 4:00-5:30pm; November 10 from 11:00am-1:00pm and 4:00-5:30pm; and November 11 from 4:00-5:30pm.

If you have any questions, please contact the Center for Social Concern in Liberty Hall 107, (937) 229-2524 or email Dominic Sanfilippo at cscprogram@udayton.edu. Thank You!
