Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month
Every November, a team of students organizes a series of events to create awareness about the issues of hunger and homelessness that plague our nation and our world. If you are interested in being a part of this year's planning team, please contact Meaghan Crowley.

Saturday Oct 29
Oxfam Jam, 2-4pm @ ArtStreet Amphitheater
Join us for an afternoon of performances and events to raise money for Oxfam, an international organization working to end hunger and homelessness globally. Suggested donation of $2 or $1 if you bring 3 canned goods.
Monday Nov 7
Film Screening: A Place at the Table, 7-8:30 @ ArtStreet Studio B
A screening of A Place at the Table, a documentary shedding light on food access issues, hunger, homelessness, and the unjust structures that perpetuate poverty and hunger. Stick around afterwards for discussion and reflection with a representative from Homefull, an organization working to find services, solutions, and innovations for people experiencing hunger and homelessness.
Thursday Nov 10
Dinner Dialogue with Hanley Sustainability Institute, Time TBD @ KU Ballroom
Come participate in a panel discussion with people who work in hunger and homelessness throughout the Dayton area. Discussion will focus on achieving food justice and environmental sustainability.
Saturday Nov 12
Service Saturday, 9-12pm or 12-4pm
Join us for a morning or afternoon of service, sorting and organizing donations for the Thanksgiving Food Drive. This service will be on campus, but will benefit families throughout the Dayton region.

Thursday Nov 17
Homelessness Plunge/ Sleep Out, 7pm @ 33 W. First St. #100 Dayton OH 45402
In partnership with Homefull, a local agency that works to provide services, solutions, and innovations for people experiencing hunger and homelessness. This experience will start with a film screening and discussion of the movie Tiny, followed by a sleep out in Dayton. This experience is designed to get a small snapshot of what it is like for a person experiencing homelessness on a daily basis. Please RSVP on the Center for Social Concern’s website:

Mission of Mary Farm Service Day, 9-12pm

9pm Mass and Candlelight prayer service at 1903 Trinity Marianist Student Community
Start your Thanksgiving break off right with Mass and a Candlelight prayer service dedicated to Hunger and Homelessness.

November 2015's Events
Donate a Meal
Look for tables in KU, Marycrest or VWK during the Week of Nov. 1- Nov. 8 to donate one or two of your meals or some money off of your Flyer Express card. The proceeds will go towards providing Thanksgiving meals to local Dayton families!
Students can donate a maximum of $10 (two meals) through their meal plan. We have until November 9 to make sure all the sheets are turned in. If you turn in your sheets after November 9th, the donations will NOT be accepted.
- Provide a basket of non-perishable food including $15 for a turkey, 2 boxes of stuffing, 2 cans of cranberry sauce, 2 cans of a type of vegetable, 2 boxes of mashed potatoes, and 1 boxed dessert that can be made by adding water.
- Donate the cost of a meal: $50.
Donations are due the week of November 9, 2015.
Checks can be made payable to Campus Ministry and sent to Liberty Hall 107 (+0408).
Meal donations may be dropped off in the S1 (Fitz Hall), S2, and the 1700 Patterson (River Campus) parking lots on November 9 from 4:00-5:30pm; November 10 from 11:00am-1:00pm and 4:00-5:30pm; and November 11 from 4:00-5:30pm.
