Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month

We Are One Body

October 27- November 30, 2014

Did you know that 40.9% of children in Dayton are living below the poverty level, compared to Ohio’s average of 21.5%?  The University of Dayton’s committee responsible for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Month is seeking to educate the campus regarding hunger and homelessness locally and worldwide, in how we can be advocates for change. Through awareness one can no longer ignore the issue the human race is fighting as a whole.

The Month's Events

Donate a Meal

Look for tables in KU, Marycrest or VWK during the Week of Nov. 2- Nov. 8 to donate one or two of your meals or some money off of your Flyer Express card. The proceeds will go towards providing Thanksgiving meals to local Dayton families!

There are two options to support this project again for tradition Thanksgiving meals:

  1. Provide a basket of non-perishable food including $15 for a turkey, 2 boxes of stuffing, 2 cans of cranberry sauce, 2 cans of a type of vegetable, 2 boxes of mashed potatoes, and 1 boxed dessert water can be added to.
  2. Donate the cost of a meal: $50.
