Preparation for Your Wedding
Many people will be involved in your preparation for this happy occasion. Each will have something important to offer. All are motivated by a single desire, that you will be happy together for the rest of your lives.
In addition to meeting with a priest to do the FOCCUS and other counseling, you will be invited to take part in our program of marriage preparation sometimes called Pre-Cana. This is a program held a few times during the year usually on Saturday.
It is conducted by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati by teams of lay people who discuss with you issues of communication, finance, human sexuality, and Christian faith. You are not required to do your general preparation here at UD.
UD is very pleased to provide the services of a wedding coordinator, Colleen Brown; she will help you with preparations and then be with you on the day of the wedding. She makes sure that everything is set up as you want, and she helps organize the procession, and is available for all sorts of last minute details. Six months prior to your wedding, please contact Colleen Brown at 937-229-2019 and schedule your rehearsal.
Each couple is responsible for finding a priest to preside at their marriage. Visiting priests and deacons are also welcome. Please ask them to contact us. If the priest/deacon lives outside of OHIO, he must obtain a special permission from the State House. Colleen Brown can help you with this.
If your address changes during the time of your engagement, please notify Colleen Brown, so you will be sure to receive all updated information.
