Latin America in Song

A capela choral ensemble from Puerto Rico to perform at UD.

Orfeón San Juan Bautista, an a capella choral ensemble, will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the UD Immaculate Conception Chapel on UD's campus.

Created in 1994 as the artistic vision of Guarionex Morales-Matos, the Puerto Rico-based ensemble now consists of 29 members. Orfeón San Juan Bautista will perform popular Puerto Rican pieces, Latin psalms, and selections of Latin American music from the Caribbean and Central and South America.

The concert is part of the University of Dayton's Arts Series and is presented in cooperation with the Puerto Rican Cultural Society of Dayton.

Tickets are $14 for the general public; $5 for students; and $8 for UD faculty, staff and alumni. To order tickets, call (937) 229-2545 or go to http://artsseries.udayton.edu.

Free parking is available on campus in single-letter lots after 7:30 p.m.

The show also is part of the University's Year of Diverse Voices, a theme for campus arts performances throughout the academic year to commemorate the centennial of the death of Paul Laurence Dunbar, a native Daytonian and world-famous black poet.
