A Guide to Lent

University of Dayton's Lent Page is a cornucopia of Lenten resources, including blogs, podcasts and hymns.

The University of Dayton begins its observance of Lent on Ash Wednesday (March 1) with seven Masses — 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon; 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. All Masses, except for 9 p.m. in the McGinnis Center, will be held in the Immaculate Conception Chapel.

The Rev. Gerald Chinchar, S.M., a University of Dayton campus minister has created a Lent Web site as a way for people to more easily find Lenten resources.

The site includes daily suggestions, readings, prayers and homilies for the 40-day period of repentance and reflection leading to Easter. It even includes Lenten blogs, podcasts and hymns.

Here's a sample suggestion of the day on the site: "Plant a seed or bulb and watch it develop through the spring. Pray for your own spiritual growth."
