School of Law Honors Top Lawyer

Honorary alumni award goes to lawyer rated No. 1 in Ohio Super Lawyers magazine and listed in Best Lawyers in America. Ohio appeals court judge is named the distinguished alumni award winner.

The University of Dayton School of Law bestow its honorary alumni award to David Greer, who has been rated No. 1 in Ohio Super Lawyers magazine and listed in Best Lawyers in America.

Greer, a partner in the Dayton law firm of Bieser, Greer and Landis, will be honored along with Mary Donovan, an Ohio Second District Court of Appeals judge; UD law school benefactor Mary Louise Dreety; and UD law professor Kelvin Dickinson during the school's alumni weekend May 19-20.

The honorary alumni award, named for U.S. district court Judge Walter H. Rice, is presented to an individual who represents the ideals of the school with significant contributions to the legal profession, community and the UD School of Law.

Donovan, the distinguished alumni award winner, graduated in 1977 and went on to be a public defender, prosecutor and served on the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court's general division before her current appointment.

Dreety and Dickinson also will receive the school's special service award, which is named for former law school dean and current professor Fran Conte.

Dreety established a scholarship fund to benefit current and future UD law students with her husband, Meyer, a 1937 UD School of Law graduate. Meyer died last year, but "Mary Louise has continued the support they began together with a genuine concern for the School of Law and its mission," according to UD law school officials.

Dickinson, who has been at UD since 1979, returned to the teaching ranks this year after serving as the school's associate dean for academic affairs for three years. As assistant dean, Dickinson helped with the development of the school's award-winning Lawyer as Problem Solver curriculum and the transition to Keller Hall.

The UD School of Law's alumni weekend activities include a Dayton Dragons baseball game, a presentation for which continuing legal education credit can be earned, campus tours, and dinner and entertainment.
