Sounds of Vietnam

Traditional Vietnamese music group, Khac Chi, to perform at ArtStreet amphitheater.

The Vietnamese musical duo Khac Chi will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in the amphitheater at ArtStreet, located on the corner of Kiefaber Street and Lawnview Avenue near the University of Dayton campus. The show is free and open to the public.

The Khac Chi Ensemble performs on rare instruments native to Vietnam. These virtuoso artists offer an intriguing glimpse into the rich musical traditions of Vietnam and its 4,000-year history.

Presented by UD's ArtStreet and Center for International Programs, the concert previews the Asian Cultural Festival, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, in Miamisburg's Liberty Park. Khac Chi also will make an appearance at the festival.

The Khac Chi performance at the University of Dayton will kick off a semester-long "Focus on Asia," which will feature Vietnamese-themed musical and theatrical performances, a woodblock print exhibit by a Japanese-American artist, a Korean film series, and art and educational workshops.
