Holy Week Events

The University of Dayton will observe Holy Week, the week immediately preceding Easter, with traditional Catholic liturgies and other observances.

The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception will be the site of several special Holy Week Masses. All services at the chapel are open to the public.

12:05 p.m., Monday, April 2 through Wednesday April 4, Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, regular daily mass.

11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, McGinnis Center, schoolchildren from St. Francis deSales School in Lebanon will stage a mimed rendition of the Stations of the Cross, sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Free and open to the public.

8 p.m., Thursday, April 5, Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Holy Thursday Mass, commemorating the Last Supper with the ritual of foot-washing of the congregation by lay and religious leaders. Adoration at the chapel observed until 11 p.m.

2 p.m., Friday, April 6, Courthouse Square, Good Friday Walk for Justice, including prayers, readings, songs and 14 Stations of the Cross connected to social justice issues.

3 p.m., Friday, April 6, Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Good Friday, Celebration of the Lord's Passion.

11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 7, Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Holy Saturday, Morning Prayer with rites for the elect (those preparing for baptism). 9 p.m. to midnight, Great Paschal Vigil.

10 a.m., Sunday, April 8, Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Easter Sunday, Mass of Easter Day.
