9/11 Remembrance

The chapel bells will toll four times. Students will light candles in the Humanities Plaza. A Mass for peace will be celebrated. It's all part of 9/11 remembrance activities on campus.

The Student Government Association is inviting the campus community to light a candle in the Humanities Plaza between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, in memory of all who died in the terrorist attacks.

The Immaculate Conception Chapel bells will toll at the times each of the four planes crashed — 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m., 10:03 a.m. — for one minute.

Faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to sign a prayer wall outside the Kennedy Union cafeteria.

UD's 12:05 p.m. Mass in the Immaculate Conception Chapel will be a Mass for peace and an end to violence. UD will remember all who died in the Sept. 11 attacks, including a reading of the names of victims associated with UD.  The Mass is open to the public.

In addition, the residence education staff will hold a "prayer service of remembrance and hope" in the Marianist Hall chapel at 7:30 p.m.  That's open only to the campus community.
