Former Indiana and current Texas Tech head coach Bob Knight will speak at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at University of Dayton Arena, and ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas will be the master of ceremonies for an evening celebrating the University of Dayton’s basketball history.

The 1967 NCAA tournament runner-up UD men’s basketball team will headline the event that will help the University raise funds to provide additional student-athlete opportunities and renovate UD’s Physical Activities Center. That team, which is considered by many to be one of the best in UD history, finished 25-6 and lost to UCLA in the NCAA championship game.

UD also will honor the 1951, 1952, 1955, 1956, 1958, 1962, 1968, 1974, 1984, 1990 and 2003 teams at the event.

The 1962 and 1968 teams, which won the National Invitational Tournament, past UD basketball coaches Don Donoher and Tom Blackburn, and former players Don May and Jim Paxson entered the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame May 19.

Individual general admission tickets are $35, and sponsorship opportunities start at $10,000. Call the UD Arena ticket office at 937-229-4433 to order tickets or inquire about sponsorship opportunities. Tickets also are available through Ticketmaster at 937-228-2323 or www.ticketmaster.com (keyword: Celebration of Flyer Basketball).
