Making a Difference

Alumni and friends have established nearly two dozen new scholarships. Hear how those dollars are changing students' lives.

They learn and live, serve and give — in the classroom, in the community and across the country and around the globe.

Hear how University of Dayton scholarship students are making a difference, thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends. At the annual scholarship dinner on campus Nov. 1, they told their stories.

"The students at this university never cease to amaze me," Daniel J. Curran, president of the University of Dayton, told donors and students at the dinner. "Year in and year out, I have the pleasure of working with them as they serve the campus and the community.

"We talk about challenging minds, shaping the future and embracing faith and justice. For the students in this room, it is more than talk. They live those principles every day."

This year, alumni and friends of the University of Dayton established 19 new named scholarships — bringing the total to more than 500. UD awarded more than $3.5 million dollars in funds from those scholarships this year. In all, UD provides nearly $33 million in scholarship aid each year.
