National Title Contenders

Two Flyers have qualified for the NCAA individual men's cross-country championship, and after taking the Atlantic 10 title on Sunday, the Flyer men's soccer team plays Friday in the first round of the NCAA championships.

The Flyer men’s soccer team plays at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the University of Illinois-Chicago in the first round of the Division I NCAA tournament. The winner will play Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Michigan State.

The team beat top-seeded Massachusetts 1-0 on Sunday for its first Atlantic 10 Conference title in 10 years. The Flyers head into the NCAA tournament with a 15-4-2 record — the most season wins ever for a UD men’s soccer team.

Twin brothers Chris and Matt Lemon will be competing for an NCAA men’s Division I cross-country championship at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, in Terre Haute, Ind.

This marks UD's first appearance in the national championship meet. Chris Lemon earned an automatic bid by finishing third overall in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships Nov. 15, in West Lafayette, Ind.; Matt Lemon finished 14th at the same event to earn an at-large berth in the 38-runner national championship field.
