Swifter, Higher, Stronger

More than 600 students are expected to participate in the Olympic-style event at the University of Dayton outdoor track that concludes the YMCA's city-wide summer day camp program.

The University of Dayton will host the YMCA of Greater Dayton's Olympic "field day" event July 15-16 at the University of Dayton's outdoor track located behind Time Warner Cable Stadium.

More than 600 students are expected to participate in the event that concludes the YMCA's city-wide summer day camp program. Children ages 5 to 8 years old will compete on Wednesday, July 15. Children ages 9 to 11 years old will compete on Thursday, July 16.

Volunteers from the University of Dayton department of athletics will assist YMCA staff in managing the activities.

The competition includes standard track and field events like relays, the 100-yard dash, long jump and high jump plus the bucket brigade and football pass.

The YMCA will present the Spirit Award to the day camp site giving the most spirited presentation to the entire crowd.
