The Flyers women's volleyball team on Thursday makes its sixth appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last seven years against Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Champaign, Ill.

The Dayton women's volleyball team (29-3) will face Horizon League-champ Wisconsin-Milwaukee (16-14) Thursday in Champaign, Ill., in the first-round of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championships.

The winner of that match will play either Summit League champion Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (20-11) or Illinois (24-5), which is hosting the first- and second-rounds and is the No. 5 seed overall in the tournament.

Dayton is ranked 23rd and Illinois is ranked eighth in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association regular-season poll.

"This has been a great year and it's a team I really enjoy coaching. They're fun to be in the gym with and work hard, and there is a hunger and enthusiasm to keep this thing extended as long as we can," head coach Kelly Sheffield said.

The Flyers earned a bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Junior middle blocker Lindsay Fletemier was named A-10 Co-Player of the Year, while junior outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey earned Most Outstanding Player of the A-10 Tournament.

UD is making its sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament in seven seasons. The Flyers have made it to the second round twice in program history.
