The University of Dayton's English Department and the Dayton branch of the Jane Austen Society of North America are sponsoring "Tea and Diversions with Mr. and Mrs. Darcy," a day-long event celebrating the enduring Regency-era author from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Sears Recital Hall and Kennedy Union.

The Jane Austen Gala will feature three speakers, a high tea luncheon, a toast to the bust of Jane Austen on the exterior of the Humanities building and an English country dance workshop.

Speakers for the event include Laura Vorachek, assistant professor of English at the University, speaking on early 19th Century piano music with references to Austen's novels and Carrie Bebris, Centerville resident and author of the award-winning Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Mystery series, on how Austen uses the exchange of letters between characters in her stories.

Kim Wilson, author of Tea with Jane Austen and In the Garden with Jane Austen, will give an illustrated presentation on "Love in the Shrubbery: In the Garden with Jane Austen." Bebris and Wilson will also hold a book signing. Cincinnati dance masters Tom and Toni Tumbusch will present the country dance workshop.
