Making History

Women's basketball team wins first NCAA tournament game in program's first appearance.

Two days after winning its first NCAA tournament game in program history, the University of Dayton women's basketball team will face perennial power Tennessee.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, March 22, on Tennessee's home court, Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. ESPN2 will broadcast the game.

The Flyers, the No. 8-seed in the Memphis regional, advanced to face No. 1-seed Tennessee by overcoming an 18-point deficit to beat No. 9-seed Texas Christian 67-66 Saturday, March 20.

It will be a full night of Flyers hoops Monday.

The men's team takes on area rival Cincinnati at 9 p.m. in Cincinnati's Fifth Third Arena in the second round of the National Invitational Tournament. ESPN will broadcast the game.

The teams have faced each other 89 times. The last meeting was in 2005.
