Lowe's and Behold

Women's Soccer Player Kathleen Beljan is among the finalists for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in Women's Soccer.

A media panel has selected University of Dayton women's soccer player Kathleen Beljan as a finalist for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

Beljan, a defender from Hilliard, Ohio, is the first Flyer to be named a finalist for the award.

It's yet another in a long list of accolades for the two-time captain of the 16th-ranked Flyers (10-1).

Last year, she was the first Flyer women's soccer player to make the Hermann Trophy Watch List and the Atlantic 10 Conference defensive player of the year. She also became Dayton’s first National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women’s Soccer first-team scholar all-America selection.

To be eligible for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Nationwide fan voting, now through Nov. 14, will determine the winner. Fans can vote on the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award website. Fan votes, combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes, determine the winner announced during the 2011 NCAA Women’s College Cup championship Dec. 2 and 4 in Kennesaw, Ga.
