A Life Well Loved
A memorial prayer service will be held April 18 for Larry Cook, a first-year engineering student.

The University of Dayton will hold a memorial prayer service at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, in the Immaculate Conception Chapel for Larry Cook, a first-year mechanical engineering student from Cincinnati.
Cook, who died Tuesday, April 2, also will be remembered at the 12:05 p.m. Mass that day.
"The University of Dayton community grieves the loss of a young man who was beloved on this campus," said Crystal Sullivan, director of campus ministry. "Hundreds of students participated in a prayer vigil the day of his death, and many students, professors and administrators attended his funeral in Cincinnati to show their love and support.
"Our heartfelt prayers remain with his family, friends, professors and all who have been touched by his life," she said.
Although the Montgomery County Coroner's Office made an initial determination that the death was a suicide, the death continues to be investigated. The Dayton Police Department is the primary investigative agency, and the University of Dayton is assisting in that investigation. The family has shared their intent to investigate the circumstances of the death, and the University shares their desire to find answers.
"Larry's death is a tragedy, and we're all mourning the loss of such a promising life. His spirit will always be a part of this campus community," said Daniel J. Curran, University of Dayton president. "We have offered our cooperation to the family toward our common goal of finding answers."
University officials are encouraging anyone with information that could help the investigation to step forward and share that with police.
The University continues to provide support services for students through the counseling center, campus ministry and residence life staffs.
