After 32 years with the Office of Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service, Michael Bitner '81 is retiring on October 2, 2013.  Mr. Bitner has served as a docket attorney, District Counsel and for the last 13 years. Associate Area Counsel (SB/SE).  Michael spent the first 15 years of his career in Springfield, Illinois, and the last 17 in St. Louis, Missouri. He also bids a fond farewell to all of the members of the "Magnificent 7", AKA his study group.

Nancy A. Roberson '81 was honored by the Ohio Diversity Council as one of the recipients of the 2013 Ohio Leadership Excellence Award. The award was presented at the 2013 Northeast Ohio Multicultural Leadership. Nancy is an OSBA board-certified specialist in Estate Planning Trust & Probate Law.

Green & Green Lawyers is proud to announce that Jane M. Lynch '82 has been elected to the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC). To be selected, a candidate must be nominated by two current members, and go through a rigorous vetting process. Membership invitations are limited to 1000 U.S. member attorneys in private practice.

Freund, Freeze & Arnold, A Legal Professional Association, a Dayton, Ohio-based law firm, is pleased to announce that Susan Blasik-Miller '84 and Adam Armstrong '05 have been inducted as Fellows into The Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF). The OBSF inducted 47 attorneys as Fellows at the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center on June 5. Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor and OSBF President Thomas D. Lammers resided over the ceremony. 

Jeff Mullins '90Lance Gildner '91 and Lisa Wiseman '01 were selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2014, announced by Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP.

Faruki Ireland & Cox P.L.L.'s Ron Raether '96 once again joined a distinguished panel of speakers addressing data security issues currently facing businesses at the annual Net Diligence Cyber Risk & Privacy Liability Forum on June 6-7 at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia. Raether's panel focus was dissecting a data breach claim.

Christopher Epley '99 was awarded the Steven E. Yuhas Alumni Special Service Award by the University of Dayton School of Law. The award recognizes a law school graduate's "extraordinary service and contributions of time, talent and financial assistance." Dean Paul E. McGreal, Esq., presented the award to Chris on June 7, 2013.

Susan Suriano '09 has joined Grossman Law Offices in Columbus, Ohio.  As a new associate she focuses on Family Relations Law, serving those in central Ohio counties in matters related to divorce, dissolution, custody and visitation, child and spousal support orders, and paternity cases.

Jennifer Kowal Franklin '10 joins the family law practice at Carmody MacDonald as an associate from Bauer Soule Garnholz Albin in Clayton where she also practiced in the area of family law.  Her experience includes a variety of complex domestic relations cases involving divorce, paternity, modification of child custody and support, and domestic abuse cases among other issues.

Joshua Kin '10 was noted as the Featured Attorney in the August 2013 Pickrel, Schaeffer and Ebeling e-newsletter, On the Legal Wire.


Congratulations to Cassandra "Cat" Andres '12 and Michael Rice '12 who have announced their engagement. Mr. Rice proposed on July 30, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio. Each are a Staff Attorney at the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, Michael to the Honorable Dennis J. Langer and Cat to the Honorable Gregory Singer.
