Bookstore Relocating Temporarily to RecPlex

University officials are working to clean up damage from water pipes that broke in three buildings, and to relocate bookstore operations.

University officials are working to clean up damage from water pipes that broke in three University buildings Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, and to relocate bookstore operations.

Pipes broke in the University Bookstore in Marianist Hall, Keller Hall and 1700 South Patterson. University officials believe the incidents are weather-related and are assessing damage. The campus community is encouraged to be extra careful around the entrances to these buildings because of icy conditions.

The bookstore is relocating operations to the MAC Gym in RecPlex and expects to be operational starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10. While extensive damage occurred on the first and second floors, the majority of books and merchandise were not affected and will be moved.

Bookstore hours in the MAC gym through Friday, Jan. 17 will be:

  • Friday, Jan. 10: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 11: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 12: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, Jan. 13 through Thursday, Jan. 16: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, Jan. 17: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, Saturday, Jan. 18, through Monday, Jan. 20: Closed

Bookstore visitors can stop at the Visitor Center at the entrance to lot C to obtain a parking pass. For additional bookstore information, call 9-3233 or email bookstore@udayton.edu.

Keller Hall sustained considerable damage causing School of Law classes to be cancelled Wednesday. Administrative offices are open for business. The law school will update faculty, staff and students about Thursday classes this afternoon.

Two broken pipes caused minor damage to 1700 South Patterson on the second floor near classrooms and at the main entrance. No University activities will be disrupted.

Facilities staff have been inspecting pipes in student residences daily during the cold spell and have found limited damage. If you discover a broken pipe or water damage when you return to campus from semester break, please contact the Office of Facilities Management call center at 9-3753 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or Public Safety at 9-2121 after hours.
