Business Plan Competition Winners

Six teams competed in the final round of the University of Dayton Business Plan Competition for the chance to win $65,000 in cash prizes and other support to help launch their startups.

Along with first-place winner Jessica Kerr, the other awards included:

Second place for $15,000: InfiniPure, a team of students from University of Dayton, Wright State University and Central State University, partnered with the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Entrepreneurs Center in downtown Dayton, are working to repurpose Air Force technology designed to filter fuel from a jet fighter. Their aim is to create filters for homes using an ionization process.

Third place for $10,000: LYGENT iStrab, the first automated device to accurately screen and measure strabismus, or crossed eyes in children.

Fourth place for $5,000: Automated Growing Rod: a therapeutic orthopedic device for pediatric scoliosis correction and external fixation application.

Fifth place for $5,000: Drama Loving Wedding Cartoon Customization Service, from the winner of the Entrepreneurship in China contest.

Sixth place for $5,000: SlapWrap Straps, patent pending, auto-wrapping lifting straps for fitness, competitive sports weight training and rehabilitation.
