Good Students AND Athletes

The NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) report on Division I student-athletes released Nov. 15 places the University of Dayton among the top schools in graduating its student-athletes. Dayton's GSR of 95 in this year's report ranks the University tied for 26th in the nation.

"We are proud of how our student-athletes are driven to being successful, whether it is in competition or in the classroom. The academic achievement and graduation of our student-athletes is our primary responsibility as an institution. At Dayton, our teams have experienced multitudes of success in competition as well as being one of the best at graduating student athletes. It's remarkable and reflects the commitment of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the University to that mission,” University of Dayton Vice President and Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan said.

Dayton has posted a 95 percent GSR for the last three years; it's the department's second-highest rate since the inception of the GSR reporting system in 2005. In the 12 years of the GSR, the Flyers have never rated below a 94 and have always ranked 27th or better nationally.

The Flyers have 10 teams with a perfect GSR and all 16 UD teams posted Graduation Success Rates above the national average.

Division I student-athletes across the country who entered college in 2009 earned their degrees at a rate of 86 percent, tying last year's all-time highest rate.
