Hudson's areas of expertise include gender and international relations, the politics of human rights, human security, and international law and organization. Her book, Gender, Human Security and the UN: Security Language as a Political Framework for Women (Routledge, 2009) examines the organizational dynamics of women's activism in the United Nations system and how women have come to embrace and been impacted by the security discourse in their work for rights and equality. Her current research centers on the deployment and impact of female military and police personnel in UN peacekeeping missions. Perez-Bustillo's expertise is in human rights, U.S.-Mexico border issues; Latin America, especially the impact of U.S. policy; immigration, rights of indigenous people, liberation theology, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization and tribunals of conscience. He is the author of the book Human Rights, Hegemony and Utopia in Latin America: Poverty, Forced Migration and Resistance in Mexico and Colombia, and several several books, chapters and articles on human rights.
