Humanities Pilots Workshop

Thursday, August 16, 2012  --  Marianist Hall, 2nd Floor  REGISTER

Below is the workshop schedule.  Please note that the focus in the morning will be Diversity and International Students, and the focus in the afternoon will be on Catholic Social Teaching and CIT.  During both the morning and afternoon sessions conveners will focus on resources we can use in our HC Pilot courses.

As you will see, for each of the sessions, there will be time for conversation among all pilot faculty. To facilitate these conversations we are asking – in keeping with the course preparations you will be engaged in this summer – that by Monday, August 14 you send to me one course assignment (which may be a reading or writing assignment) regarding Diversity, and one course assignment on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. I will post these assignments onto the Humanities Commons site in Isidore, which all of you can access.  Please look through these assignments before the August 16 workshop, as they will form the basis of the workshop conversation.

One other note about this workshop: Because of the tight schedule for starting the semester, and because we want to ask participants to meet before August 15, we decided to limit this year’s August workshop to one day.  Because of this we are not building in any time on the 16th for faculty to work on their courses, except over the lunch hour.  Faculty who need to meet about connected courses should plan to do so either before or after the August 16 workshop.

Please contact Caroline Merithew , First Year Humanities Commons First Coordinator, if you plan to attend (all or part of) the workshop on the 16th or click HERE to register
