Nominate a Speaker

Each year, the University of Dayton Speaker Series asks the UD community to help assemble a slate of distinguished speakers representing a wide breadth of intellectual, cultural and social perspectives. Last year the committee received and reviewed over 90 nominations from students, faculty, and staff; all the speakers in this year's series were selected from among those nominations.

The committee is now requesting recommendations from faculty, staff, and students for speakers for the 2017-18 series. Nominees should be willing to engage the campus and the community in thought-provoking discussions about critical issues facing our world.

In collaboration with campus and community partners, the UD Speaker Series sponsors presenters who:

  • have achieved substantial national or international recognition for expertise in their fields of inquiry or artistic expression;
  • represent, as a series, a diversity of intellectual, cultural, political, and religious perspectives;
  • engage directly with students, faculty, and staff in ways that support learning and living in community.

Please submit nominations using the online forms by November 22, 2016. If you have already invited or plan to bring a speaker to campus and would like to suggest a co-sponsorship with the Speaker Series, please fill out the co-sponsorship form.

All nominations and co-sponsorship requests will be reviewed during December and January; a potential list of speakers will be identified in February.

Members of the UD community:

#1 - UDSS Speaker Suggestion Form (to nominate speakers for the UDSS program) >>

#2 - UDSS Notification and/or Request for Co-Sponsorship Form (to notify the UDSS of existing plans to bring a major speaker to campus) >>

Speakers Bureau / Agency Representatives:

Professional representatives should use the online nomination form. The committee will welcome recommended speakers who clearly fit all three criteria identified in the UDSS mission statement. A committee member will respond if and when the committee decide to pursue one of the recommendations.
