Global Goals Issue Forum at Stander

17 UN Goals Icons

We will explore the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Goals and the theme of the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) at the Stander Symposium.

Approximately 200 students, faculty, staff, and community members will take part in an interactive, cross-disciplinary, student-led event.

After receiving an introduction to the 2030 Agenda and an overview of U.S. and UD’s engagement with the Goals, participants will break out into small groups to deliberate about whether or not UD should increase its engagement with the Global Goals. The groups will reassemble at the end to share and reflect.

    • 15 minutes reassemble and share out (all participants)

Background

Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Goals are the world’s roadmap for social, economic, and environmental sustainable development in the 21st century. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a metrics framework with numerous targets and corresponding indicators under each Goal. The Global Goals Agenda calls on all of us--governments, universities, businesses, and individuals--to come together and do our part for the betterment of people, planet and prosperity.

Progress on the Goals is reviewed every year in July at the United Nations’ High Level Political Forum (HLPF). The 2019 HLPF will focus on a set of six Global Goals under the theme Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.
