Emergency Medical Services

The Department of Public Safety provides around the clock pre-hospital emergency medical services to the University of Dayton community.

  • All police officers below the rank of Major are certified as Emergency Medical Technician, Basic (EMT-B) or Emergency Medical Technician, First Responder (EMT-FR).  Each police vehicle carries first-aid supplies and an automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • The Student Volunteer Rescue Squad, founded in 1992, is comprised of approximately 50 full-time undergraduate students who volunteer their time serving the campus community as nationally registered and state certified Emergency Medical Technician - Basic.  Membership is open to all full-time undergraduate students.  Please visit the Student Volunteer Rescue Squad web site by clicking on the link on this page.

Emergency Medical Services are available by contacting the Public Safety dispatcher at the following telephone numbers:

  • 911 from any campus telephone
  • 937-229-2121 from a cellular telephone or off-campus telephone
