Pilates Progressions - Modifying Pilates for All Levels
Olivia Grace Wolfe
A Pilates mat workout with various props, this session will take the participants through an entire classical Pilates mat flow while adding in props to make the class easier and more difficult. Using progressions, each exercise will begin with a standard, base, beginner's level exercise and then will have 1-4 additional modifications that make each exercise harder. This allows each student to work to the level that he or she is comfortable with and allows the teacher to plan a class that is accessible for everyone. The format of the class allows the flow of a normal Pilates class to naturally take the students through progressions that build off of one another and are thus easy to cue, follow, and execute. These exercises can be used not only in Pilates classes but also for personal training sessions and other strength training fitness classes.
