2018 Family Weekend Friday Schedule

RecPlex Open Hours (No registration required)
6:00 AM - 10:00 PM  RecPlex
UD Families have the opportunity to get active free of charge during Family Weekend through use of the RecPlex facility for open recreation! Minors must be accompanied by an adult, waivers must be signed at check-in, must have drivers license present for access.

RecBike Rentals (No registration required)
6:00 AM - 10:00 PM  RecPlex, Equipment Resource Center
Take a ride around the neighborhood or hit the trails with our RecBikes! Must be a member to rent the bikes, however a member can rent more than one at a time. All participants must sign a waiver at the time of check-out. Free to rent and must be back before sundown. All bikes come with a helmet and bike lock.

Family Weekend Information Center & Merchandise Pick-Up Open (No registration required)
8:30 AM - 8:30 PM  Gosiger Hall, Room 131
Check-in for Family Weekend is not required. Family Weekend merchandise can only be picked up during these hours. New Student Programs Staff will be available to answer questions.  Limited amounts of merchandise for sale can be purchased with cash or checks (made payable to "University of Dayton").

Dayton Art Institute - Family Pass  (No registration required)
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM  Dayton Art Institute
Looking for a great off-campus family activity?  Visit the Dayton Art Institute, one of the region's premier fine arts museums.  Passes are free this weekend and one pass is good for 4 people. UD students have free year-round membership.  Details on their permanent collection and special exhibits are online at

Join current students, administrators, faculty and Deans at Open Houses hosted by each academic unit, the University Libraries, and our Human Rights Center. We encourage you to visit any event that is of interest to you or your student.

Academic Open House - Arts & Sciences (Pre-

The College of Arts and Sciences invites you to tour renovated classrooms and labs and meet students who completed mentored research projects with faculty over the summer. You can also visit with our team from the Human Rights Center to learn more about our many projects and how your student can get involved. Fair trade coffee and chocolate, and other refreshments will be provided.

The School of Business Administration welcomes parents and families to visit our classrooms, tour our Centers, and speak to representatives about our special programs. Refreshments will be provided.

Academic Open House - School of Education & Health Sciences (Pre-registration required)
2:00 - 4:00 PM Fitz Hall, 6th Floor and labs
Welcome School of Education and Health Sciences (SEHS) families! The SEHS Open House provides opportunities for you to meet and mingle with faculty and students. You will learn about student organizations, peer mentoring programs, study abroad opportunities, and how students can get involved in faculty research. Health and Sport Science students will be invited to tour lab spaces used in research and advanced course work. Teacher Education students will learn more about topics such as social-emotional learning and teaching English to speakers of other languages. Join us!

Academic Open House - Law School (Pre-registration required)

Discover the many possibilities of a career in the law. Enjoy refreshments while touring Keller Hall, the beautiful home of the School of Law and the Human Rights Center. Talk to someone from the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid about the necessary steps for law school and catch a few videos showcasing our law school's welcoming atmosphere.

Roesch Library has exciting changes underway. Stop by for refreshments while you check out plans for Roesch Refresh, the transformational renovation of the first and second floors.  You can also visit the Marian Library, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary as the internationally recognized center for scholarship on the Blessed Virgin Mary.

"Doughnut" miss the opportunity to visit the School of Engineering! Try out the Flight Simulator, tour the labs, learn about our student organizations and study abroad programs! Representatives from the Office of Student Success, Co-op, and ETHOS will also be available. (Plus, have a Dayton-famous "Bill's" Doughnut to kick off a sweet weekend at UD!)

Join UDLateNight for a movie: Jurassic World - Fallen Kingdom. When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event (IMDB, 2018).

The vaccine is $25 and will be billed to the student's account. Pre-registration not required but all students must have their student ID to receive a shot. Sponsored by Community Wellness and Student Health Services.

Leadership in Service Scholars Reception (Closed event, invite only)

This is a closed event for scholarship recipients and their family members. Refreshments will be provided.

#UDLateNight Presents Evening Magic with Daniel Martin (Pre-registration is required)

Join #UDLateNight during Family Weekend as we host Magician Daniel Martin for a night of magic. The 2016 Campus Activities Magazine’s “Best Variety Artist”, “Best Male Performer” and “Entertainer of the Year”, Daniel Martin combines magic, cons and sarcastic improv into his show. He has quickly become a fan favorite at theaters, universities and celebrity events worldwide.

UD Jazz Ensemble (Pre-registration is required)

The Dayton Jazz Ensemble is the premier jazz band at the University. The ensemble comprises of several majors from across the campus. The group will be playing a wide range of music including Latin, swing, be-bop, fusion, rock and funk. Light refreshments will be available.
