Family Weekend FAQs

Is it necessary to register for Family Weekend?

Yes, Family Weekend events require registration so that we can accurately plan for the correct number of participants.  This ensures that catering orders, facilities and supplies will be correct.

Why do I have to pay for Family Weekend?

Your fees help to offset a portion of the overhead required to put on Family Weekend events which involve tents, printed materials, rentals, food and beverage and other services.  We do all that we can to keep our fees as low as possible so that as many family members as possible can enjoy Family Weekend with their UD students.

Do I have to pay for my UD student?

Yes, you will need to pay for your UD student, with the exception of the football game (their ID is their admission ticket to the game).

How do I get our tickets and information for Family Weekend?

After registering and/or paying for your tickets, be sure to print them out before attending the event(s).

Can I tailgate at the football game?

Please visit the tailgating guidelines website for information.

I already registered and paid online, but I need to make some changes.  What should I do?

If you wish to make changes to your order prior to the deadline, please call the New Student Programs office at 937-229-2229.  All family weekend cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the family weekend email account at familyweekend@udayton.edu.  No refunds will be processed after the cancellation deadline for any reason.

Is the server secure for credit card payments?

I don't want my information sold to a third party.  What is your privacy policy?

We are extremely protective of your privacy and security.  The information you provide will be used only to process your registration.

Should we bring our UD student's younger siblings?

Definitely!  We work very hard to make this a weekend that the entire family will enjoy. And, we'd love for them to get excited about possibly being a UD Flyer someday themselves!

What is the guest policy for staying in UD residences?

UD Students are required to follow the guest policy as outlined in the student handbook.  The policy includes:

-Students are not permitted to have overnight guests (student or non student) stay more than two consecutive nights or five nights in one month without written consent from roommates/living mates as well as the Housing & Residence Life Area Coordinator/Resident Director staff.
-Guests may not sleep in the unoccupied bed without prior written consent of the student who primarily uses that bed.

Can I attend classes while I'm on campus?

Because of our small class sizes (and therefore our small classrooms), we don't broadly open our classes to visitors.  However, if your student makes prior arrangements with a professor for you to visit his/her class on Friday, by all means join in!

When should I plan to arrive and depart?

Families arrive as their work obligations and other commitments permit. The events begin late afternoon/early evening on Friday. Most families leave on Sunday in the early afternoon.

Are administrative offices open during Family Weekend?

Normal business hours for University departments and offices are 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.

How are refunds handled?

All family weekend cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the family weekend email account at familyweekend@udayton.edu.  No refunds will be processed after the cancellation deadline for any reason.
