Information for New Transfer Students

When can I Move-in?
If you are living in UD housing, you will move-in with the rest of UD’s returning upper class students on Sunday, August 19.  We recommend that you arrive early in order to get moved-in and squared away in time to report to the in-person orientation program which begins at Noon in the Kennedy Union.  More information about UD’s housing facilities can be found here

How can I purchase my textbooks?

Beginning Thursday, July 19th, textbooks can be purchased in store or online at shop.udayton.edu. Students can choose from the following options: 1. Shop In Store - Students bring their student IDs to the store and we will print class schedules and help pull textbooks,  2. Order Online with In Store Pick Up - Student's  order will be pulled by Bookstore staff and stored until they arrive on campus,  3. Order online with Ship to Home - Student's order will be pulled by Bookstore staff and shipped to student's home address over the summer. Note: Shipping charges are not be covered the textbook scholarship.  Please be aware that prior to July 17th, only textbooks required for summer courses will be available for purchase.  For more detailed information visit the Bookstore website or call 937-229-3233.

Do I have to attend Transfer Orientation?
Yes! All new transfer students are required to complete an orientation experience.  You have the option to choose either the in-person experience which is highly recommended or the virtual experience, online transfer orientation.  Failure to complete either one of these experiences will have consequences.

Do my parents have to attend orientation?
No. If you attend the in-person orientation experience, you are welcome to bring up to two guests with you.  Most sessions will be attended together, however there is a breakout session designed for parent and family members.

How should I dress for TSO?
Casual and comfortable!  There will be some walking and you will be in and out of various meeting rooms with varying temperatures so feel free to bring a sweater if you would like.

What happens if I get lost during TSO?
If you get turned around while on campus, visit the new student programs website, and/or refer to the 1850 Orientation Schedule Apps to review the transfer orientation schedule and locations.

Are meals included during orientation?
If you attend the in-person orientation program dinner is included with the program.  More information about meal plans can be found here.

Am I required to purchase a meal plan?

Students residing in a traditional residence hall (Marycrest, Founders, Stuart, V.W. Kettering, and Marianist) are required to purchase a Meal Plan.  Students in the apartment system or University houses and students that commute may elect to purchase a Neighborhood Meal Plan (usable in Dining Services’ locations only).  For more detailed information visit Dining Service website or contact dining services at 937-229-2441
