2-Factor Authentication FAQ

What if I forget my device?

A: You can proactively avoid this inconvenience by adding a second device to your 2FA account. If you have not enrolled an additional device and do not have access to your primary device, contact the IT Service Center for assistance at (937)229-3888.

What is a token?

A: The UD-issued Duo token is a small "keychain" device that provides temporary 6-digit passcodes assigned to your username. Your passcodes are not usable by anyone else.

How often will I have to re-authenticate with 2FA?

A: 2FA does not change the frequency of logins or the duration of system logout times. You will 2-factor authenticate only as often as you already log into protected systems.

Is 2FA required for network and/or computer access?

A: No, you do not need to use 2FA to log into UD's network or your UD computer.

What information/functions on my phone does the Duo App access?

A: These are the required permissions for using the Duo app:

a. Camera
  • take pictures (Note: Camera is only needed for enrollment; iPhone users can disable camera access after enrollment.)
b. Other
  • receive data from Internet
  • prevent device from sleeping
  • control vibration
  • full network access
  • view network connections
  • run at startup

What if my question isn't answered, where can I get more information?
