My Old House: 26 Chambers St.

Nick Thompson ’23 January 11, 2023

Upon walking through the front door of 26 Chambers, you can see the eccentricities of the house are on full display — a living area that is almost heptagonal in shape and a stairway with a low clearance for anyone taller than 6 feet.

But the oddities don’t stop at the entrance of the home, with many things being present in pairs: two door frames for one door, two back doors, two A/C units and two furnaces. Even the bedrooms are unique in their own way — one has a bay window and the others have a sloped ceiling.

This five-bedroom home is shared by five male seniors, each one in a different discipline. This means the housemates have vastly different schedules, but they enjoy finding time to watch movies and reality TV shows together in the living room. Their current favorite is “The Great British Baking Show,” but they insist, you won’t see them baking anything themselves.
