After UD students moved into their new campus homes over move-in weekend, nearly 500 School of Business Administration students took part in a service project to help two Dayton-area families also move into new homes.

The sounds of hammering and dropping wooden framing into place permeated parking lot B as students helped build walls for two new houses through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton.

“Students choose UD in part for our commitment to the common good, and this service day [gave] them a chance to take action as a servant leader from day one,” said Dean Trevor Collier.

Near the end of the build, the new wall panels were stood up, allowing students to see the start of the homes that will be completed in the Edgemont neighborhood of Dayton. This service to the Dayton community is something Collier said he is excited to see in the students’ futures in the workforce.

“These connections help our students see their careers as a calling, with commitment to their communities that enriches their lives.”
