Among those enjoying philosophy class outdoors is engineering major Don Duckro ’84. “My class regarding some South/Central American philosopher Carlos-something was inspiring,” he writes. “I went on to minor in philosophy. Turned a few heads as I interviewed for chemical engineering employment.” The professor, Conrad L’Heureux, also recognized himself: “Those were the days when I was still trying to use a combover to disguise my balding head. The photo brought back memories.” L’Heureux, retired for 20 years and now living in California, writes he still enjoys the outdoors, including in recent years walking hundreds of miles in France and Spain on the old pilgrimage ways of Saint James of Compostela.
