A way to give back
Biology professor Ryan McEwan’s life was changed when his college ecology professor suggested he try out researching. After experiencing field work and learning more about forestry, he decided to pursue a master's degree and eventually his Ph.D.
He came to work at the University of Dayton because his work here allows him to give back by offering the same opportunities to students as he was offered by his professors in school, he said.
His office serves as a place where students can meet and he can mentor them as he was mentored. It's also a repository for trinkets and artifacts he’s gathered while traveling for his field work.
