Theatre, Dance and Performance Technology

Passion meets practical.

We offer a theatre and dance major that allows for artists to become well-rounded and socially conscious practitioners through experiential learning in all areas. Students can pursue four different concentrations in the major: acting, applied theatre, dance and performance technology, or simply choose theatre studies for a generalist approach.

Our dance ensemble student dancers are mentored by dance professionals who are actively working in their field. We also produce a collaborative dance concert with DCDC annually, providing a tremendous opportunity for our dance students.

Featured Programs and Initiatives

Our Productions

Gain hands-on experience working in a wide range of theatre productions, including mainstage productions and experimental work. In the performance technology fields, we offer one-on-one mentoring and internships in scenic, costume, sound and lighting design. Majors also have the opportunity to be paid to work in the scene shop, costume shop or arts administration.

Facets Theatre

Facets Theatre (formerly Brighter Connections Theatre) is an inclusive theatre camp for everyone: youth ages 8 through adult, neurotypical or neurodivergent, all are welcome. The camps are offered by UD theatre, dance, and performance technology faculty and staff, in addition to instructors with expertise in teaching inclusive neurodiverse theatre.
