What do you love most about UD?
I love the variety of classes you can take here, this semester there is not one class that I am dreading taking.
What do you like most about your major?
I like the professors. I've only taken two Sociology classes, but my professors have taught me so much and they have a real passion for what they are teaching. They are incredibly supportive and inspire me to continue with Sociology.
Favorite class at UD and why?
My favorite class was a Core class called Western Development. It was a very broad class about philosophy, religion, history and language arts. I enjoyed it because I gained a new perspective on religion and why people are religious. I always thought of philosophy as some really hard and pretentious subject, but once I learned more about it I found that there is something very exciting and powerful about the way philosophy can potentially be used.
What piece of your academic journey has you most prepared to begin a career after graduation?
This summer I was a part of UD Community Corps, which is a program through ServeOhio. I worked at the Dayton Metro Library helping kids retain or build important educational skills for the fall. Throughout my service, I learned how to work with a vast amount of different people. I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with my career, but my main goal is to help people. By doing this service, I feel more prepared and comfortable working with kids.
Why did you choose UD?
I decided to choose UD because I wanted to stay close to home, and, in high school, many of my teachers said that UD offered an amazing education and professors.
