Isidore 101 - Getting Started
Are you ready to take your class online or supplement your classroom activities with Isidore? This training module will introduce users to Isidore, the campus learning management system, and cover the basics for getting started. Users that are new to the system are strongly encouraged to complete this training module before moving on to Isidore 201.
Logging in to Isidore
This video will show you how to access Isidore (UD's Learning Management System). Isidore is located at https://isidore.udayton.edu/portal. You'll need to use your UD LDAP username and password to access Isidore. If you don't know your username and password, you will need to contact UDit's Helpdesk at (937) 229-3888.
Creating an Isidore Site
Before you can get started building your course in Isidore, you'll need to create a course site. If you don't know when you'll be teaching next, you're always welcome to contact the E-Learning Lab to get started with a development site (firstname.lastname@example.org or (937) 229-5039). A development site allows you to build your course content. You'll be able to copy this site into a "live" course site when you're ready to teach.
Uploading and Posting your Syllabus
One of this first things you'll want to do is get your syllabus uploaded in your Isidore site. This video will show you how to add syllabus items and other important course documents to the Syllabus tool.
Using Site Info to Manage Participants and Edit the Course Menubar
This video will show you how to use the Site Info tool to view your course roster, add participants, and edit the course menubar. The Site Info tool is like the control panel or "brain" of your course.

Adding and Organizing Course Resources
This video will show you how to use the Resources tool (in your Isidore site) to upload resources, create weblinks, and organize course files into folders.
The Announcements tool is a great way to send out weekly updates, important course information, and quick shout outs to your students. From Isidore, you can choose to send announcements out to students' UD email accounts.
Managing your Course Calendar
The Schedule tool allows you to add calendar events to your Isidore course. You can also subscribe to UD's academic calendar, which automatically brings important dates into your course site.
Sending and Replying to Messages
The Isidore Messages tool allows you to contact individual students, groups of students, teaching assistants, and/or co-instructors. From within the tool, you have the option of sending the message out to someone's UD email account.
Managing your Home Tool
The Home tool is the first thing students will see when they arrive in your course. It's easy to add an interesting quote, an appealing picture, or some welcome text for students.
