Profile

As the Sustainability Project Coordinator at the Hanley Sustainability Institute, Cassie supports the planning and implementation of student-led sustainability projects on campus. She provides guidance on a wide range of project topics including waste reduction, circular economy, alternative transportation and energy efficiency. Cassie serves as the connection point between students and campus stakeholders so that the projects created can have a real and lasting impact on campus sustainability.

Cassie joined the Hanley Sustainability Institute staff after completing her MPA and Sustainability Certificate from UD in 2023. She has experience working in higher education sustainability from the University of Tennessee, where she served as an AmeriCorps member in the role of Academic Engagement Specialist. Prior to her service term, she earned a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2019.

Originally from North Carolina, Cassie is a Dayton transplant and stays busy in the community through her volunteer work with the non-profit organization Waste Free Dayton as well as working as a fitness instructor. Her love for the outdoors is what drew her to work in the sustainability field, and she believes that small actions can make a big impact in the fight against climate change.
