Our Values

Guided by its Catholic and Marianist values, the University of Dayton is committed to "honoring the intrinsic value and dignity of all people." As part of our call to solidarity and the common good, we strive to be a community where all members of our campus community, including those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+), feel welcome, respected, safe, and valued as full members of the University of Dayton community, all of whom are children of God. The University's support for LGBTQ+ employees is grounded in our family spirit and our commitment to inclusive excellence and the fair and equitable treatment of all members of our community

Campus Community

Our campus is home to a diverse community of LGBTQ+ people and allies. QDayton, our employee affinity group, hosts gatherings, events, and an annual colloquium and the Women’s Center houses a resource group for LGBTQ+ parents and parents of LGBTQ+ children. The Brook Center for Empowerment and Wellbeing houses organizations and resources for LGBTQ+ students and organizes campus-wide events. Annual programming related to the LGBTQ+ community includes National Coming Out Day, Transgender Day of Visibility, Transgender Day of Remembrance, and Pride Week.Dayton Community

Dayton Community

Dayton, Ohio is a welcoming city with full protections for LGBTQ+ people. The city regularly receives perfect scores on the Municipal Equality Index. Community events take place through the Greater Dayton LGBT Center, the Dayton LGBT Film Festival, Dayton Pride, and numerous local organizations.
