Inauguration
"Let us become known, nationally and globally, as THE University for the Common Good."
- Eric F. Spina
On April 4, 2017, the University of Dayton officially installed Eric F. Spina as its 19th president. Held over a four day span, inauguration events included Mass with Archbishop Dennis Schnurr, students in action, faculty and community symposium, story circles, innovating in the 21st century, humanizing technology, Celebration of the Arts and the Brother Joseph W. Stander Symposium.
In his inaugural address, President Spina reflected on the University's great history and shared elements of our emerging vision for the next 20 years. As we look to the year 2037 and beyond, we make foundational commitments to be true to our Catholic, Marianist values and to respond to the hopes and expectations of our community. And we will work collaboratively to become a university for the common good.
