Ben Heigel ’14

Ben Heigel ’14 says he discovered his passion to learn, lead and serve at the University of Dayton. Today, he is the director of recruiting at Improving Ohio, an IT consulting, software development and training company. In his role, Heigel works to create and maintain a recruitment process that ensures job candidates are treated with dignity and respect, not just parts of the process. He is also a member of the board of directors at Conscious Capitalism, Columbus chapter, an organization that promotes ways that capitalism can elevate humanity.

Heigel says his passion for servant leadership never would have happened without his time on campus, nor would he have married his wife, Laura, a fellow Class of 2014 graduate. The couple is now raising two children the Flyers way. Their oldest, a 3-year-old girl, already knows the UD fight song and can be heard singing “Go, Flyers, Go”.

He misses his days in the Keller Hall library, or on his front porch at 301 Stonemill, but remains connected to UD through the Grace Kelleher Memorial Scholarship, which his family set up in honor of his mother.
