Implementing UpToDate

As a new semester is about to begin, Roesch Library has implemented a new database within our collection. UpToDate is a database that provides evidence-based information as well as point of care recommendations for over 10,000 clinical topics across 22 medical specialties. Information found within the database is compiled and reviewed by subject matter experts and practicing physicians. University of Dayton faculty, staff, and students will be able to utilize this resource for research and classes, as well as clinicals and rotations.

Included within the database are medical calculators, current drug interaction information, links to referenced material, and patient education handouts. Also offered are summaries of recent updates across topic areas to provide a single stop for new information.

A key feature of this resource is that users can create individual registrations to gain access to the database when not on campus. A mobile app is available for download for use on phones, tablets, and other mobile devices. This will make access more convenient, whether on campus or off. As UpToDate is constantly updated, the evidence-based summaries will be of particular interest to students and faculty within the medical tracks.
