Ready, Set, Library!

By Diane Osman and Mandy Shannon

The American Library Association and the University of Dayton Libraries celebrate National Library Week April 7–13. The theme this year — “Ready, Set, Library!” — highlights the many ways libraries support each of us along the way through connecting us with other people, learning new skills, and hearing different stories. From start to finish, libraries are there to help you wherever you find yourself on the road map through life’s journey.

As you navigate through your college experience at the University of Dayton, having a clear route to expertise, study spaces and collections will help you reach your goals. The University Libraries have many resources to help guide students along the way, even when you hit bumps in the road or need to take a detour.

Plot a course

Do you feel like you’re speeding through your research projects but aren’t sure what all the road signs mean? Use the Book a Librarian service to schedule a research consultation. We’ll connect you to our vast collection of print and electronic resources to assist you on your journey.

Pro tips

Choose your destination from some of these innovative library spaces

  • Concourse D is a project development studio with several styles of collaboration spaces.
  • The Story Studio is a one-stop audio-video recording and editing suite, and the Libraries have a wide assortment of media equipment to borrow.
  • You can reserve study and team rooms.
  • The Dialogue Zone is a space for the University community to facilitate civil, productive discourse on sensitive or challenging issues.

Roadside attractions

Along the way, get inspiration from historical exhibits such as Beyond the Byline: Erma Bombeck's Story in the Rose Gallery or Mary in Catholic Education in the Marian Library.

Rest areas

We’ve got you covered when you need a break from the fast lane. Check out the leisure reading collection.

Let the University Libraries be your next “pit stop” to refuel and get ready for the next lap. Whether you’re gearing up for finals week, summer classes or graduation, our crew will help you reach the finish line.
